Derek "Dez" Skinn is a British comic and magazine publisher, and the author of several comics. As the COO of Marvel Comics in the UK in the late 1970s, Skinn reformatted existing titles, released new titles and acquired BBC licenses for Doctor Who Weekly. After leaving Marvel UK, Skinn founded and edited Warrior, which included the main works of Alan Moore. Called "British Stan Lee" by some, Skinn is one of the most influential characters in British comics. It has also sparked some controversy during his career, particularly regarding legal issues regarding the publication of the New Adventures of the Marvelman character in the 1950s, as well as allegations of plagiarism on the 2004 book Comix: The Underground Revolution. by Skinn.
