Edward Eugene Sutton is an American college basketball coach. Originally from Bucklin, Kansas, Sutton played college basketball at Oklahoma A&M and was the head coach of high schools, colleges and colleges for six decades. After beginning his coaching career as a graduate assistant in the State of Oklahoma under Henry Iba, Sutton became a successful adult coach at Tulsa Central High School and the University of South Idaho. Sutton began coaching at the NCAA level in 1969 at Creighton University, followed by Arkansas from 1974 to 1985, Kentucky from 1985 to 1989, and the State of Oklahoma from 1990 to 2006. For part of the 2007-08 season, Sutton is the interim head coach in San Francisco. During his career in college coaching, Sutton was one of eight NCAA Division I coaches to score more than 800 career victories. From 1977 to 2005, Sutton teams competed in all but one NCAA tournament.
