Enrique Bermúdez Varela, known as the Comandante 380, was a Nicaraguan soldier and rebel who founded and commanded the Nicaragua Contras. As a result, he became a global centerpiece in one of the most important conflicts of the Cold War. Bermúdez formed the largest Contra army in the war against the coalition government of the Sandinista coalition of Nicaragua consisting of Marxists, students, businessmen and religious groups, they received little support from the Union.
