Fergus Gordon Anckorn is a British soldier who began as a combination mage at the age of 18, and is the oldest member of the Magic Circle. Anckorn was born December 10, 1918 in Dunton Green and attended Judd School in Tonbridge. At the age of eighteen, he became the youngest member of the Magic Circle. During World War II he served in the British Army, captured by the Japanese during the fall of Singapore and a forced prisoner, working on the Burmese Railway and the famous Bridge over the River Kwai. He was interviewed about his war experience and the video is available on YouTube. He died of bladder cancer on March 22, 2018 at the age of 99
