Robert Gilmour "Gloomy Gil" Dobie is an American football player and coach. For a period of 33 years, he was the head coach of football at North Dakota College of Agriculture, University of Washington, US Naval Academy, Cornell University and Boston College, setting a record of college football. . The Dobie's Cornell teams in 1921, 1922 and 1923 were recognized as national champions. Dobie was also the head basketball coach at North Dakota Agricultural for two seasons from 1906 to 1908, setting 17 to 5 records. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 1951. Dobie has 100 career wins in 108 games, the NCAA record for the fewest games needed to reach 100. wins from 1921 to 2014
