Gillian Taylforth is an English actress. She is best known for her role as Kathy Beale in the BBC opera EastEnders, and has also appeared as Jackie Pascoe / Webb on ITV's Women and Footballers Sgt. Nikki Wright on the ITV Bill. She also appeared in the film business early in her career, playing on ITV's Loose Women and appearing as a popular contestant on Serious Dancing in 2008. As of May 1, 2013, she was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother. As of May 2013, she starred as Sandy Roscoe in Channel 4's Hollyoaks, but left in the summer of 2014 and returned in December to reunite with Joe Roscoe in January 2015. Although her EastEnders character is presumed dead after being killed offscreen in 2006, Taylforth made a shocking return to the series in February 2015 as part of the 30th anniversary episode. The BBC subsequently confirmed that she would be rehearsing the role of Kathy permanently at the end of the year and that she had been making regular appearances since August 2015.
