Gordon Tootoosis, is an Indigenous Cree and Stoney Canadian actor. Tootoosis is a descendant of Yellow Mud Blanket, brother of famous Cree chef Pitikwahanapiwiyin. He is commended for his commitment to preserving his culture and telling stories about his people. He once said: "Leadership is about submitting to duty, not rising to power." He was a founding member of the board of directors of the Saskatchewan Native Theater Company. Tootoosis has encouraged, supported, and trained aspiring Indigenous actors. He is one of Cree's key activists as a social worker and a band leader. In Open Season and Boog and Elliot's Midnight Bun Run, Tootoosis was the voice of Sheriff Gordy. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada on October 29, 2004. The ordination took place on September 9, 2005. His quote recognizes him as a role model for young indigenous youth.
