Gibson was an open critic of both the post-Vatican II Roman Catholic Church and traditionalist Catholics who rejected sedevacantism, such as the Pius X Church. In an interview in 2003, he denied the Holocaust, wondering how the Nazis could dispose of six million bodies during the Holocaust and claimed that the attacks of September 11, 2001 were carried out from a distance. He was also quoted as saying that the Second Vatican Council was "a Masonic conspiracy supported by the Jews".
