John Theodore Wisniski, known as Johnny Valentine, is an American professional wrestler with a career spanning nearly three decades. He has been inducted into four Museums of Fame because of his wrestling achievements. Wisniski is the father of professional wrestler Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. He has held a number of regional titles, including the US heavyweight NWA championship. He has had long-standing competitions with Bobo Brazil, Pat O'Connor, Buddy Rogers, Antonio Rocca, Lou Thesz, Harley Race, The Sheik, Wahoo McDaniel, Fritz von Erich, Bruno Sammartino, Johnny Powers, Antonio Inoki and Jack. & Jerry Brisco. He alternated between being a villain and a hero of the Golden Era in wrestling from the 1940s to the 1960s. In 1975, he was injured in a plane crash; He broke his back and was forced to stop. He briefly worked as a manager before fully retiring.
