Jos Van Immerseel is a Belgian harpsichord, pianist and conductor. Van Immerseel studied organ, piano and harpsichord at the Antwerp Conservatory under the direction of Flor Peeters, Eugène Traey and harpsichord and musician Kenneth Gilbert. There he founded the Collegium Musicum, developed his interest in Renaissance and Baroque music, and then broadened his activities to include both classical and early Romanticism. He is currently being asked to become a monotone artist in concert halls across Europe, where he is known for his delicate sensitivity to the rhetorical aspects of music and improvisation. Over the years, he has acquired a unique collection of period keyboard instruments that will accompany him in concerts and CD recording. In 1977, he attracted international attention by performing the spectacle L'Orfeo by Monteverdi at the former Royal Flemish Opera in Antwerp. This series of 18 performances set a new standard to date.
