Lawrence George Cohen is an American film and television screen and film writer, producer and director, best known as the screenwriter of sci-fi and horror movies - often containing elements procedure and satire about police - in the 1970s and 1980s, such as It's Alive, God said. Me To, It Lives Again, The Stuff and A Return to Salem's Lot. He is the author of mining films such as Bone, Black Caesar and Hell Up in Harlem. After that, he mainly focused on writing scripts, including Phone Booth, Cellular, and Captivity. Early in his career, Cohen was a famous television writer, having created numerous series such as Branded, Blue Light, Coronet Blue and The Invaders. In 2006, he took over directing the Masters of Horror series in the anthology of Mick Garris, directing the episode "Pick Me Up". In 2017, Cohen received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fantasia International Film Festival.
