Larry Alfred Woiwode is an American writer living in North Dakota where he has received the State Poet Prize since 1995. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, Esquire, The Atlantic Monthly, Harpers, Gentleman's Quarterly, The Partisan Review and The Paris Revoir. He is the author of five novels; two collections of short stories; a commentary titled "Proceedings"; biography of Gold Seal founder and businessman, Harold Schafer, Western aristocrat; a collection of poems, Even Tide; and essay reviews, essays and reviews that have appeared in dozens of publications, including the New York Times and Washington Post Book World. He received North Dakota's highest honor, the Theodore Roosevelt Rough Driver Award, in 1992 .
