Lashinda Demus is an American hurdle for a 400-meter obstacle course, an event for which she was 2011 world champion and 2012 Olympic silver medalist. Her personal best is over 400 meters. The hurdle was 52.47 seconds in Daegu, South Korea. on September 1, 2011, currently the fourth fastest time on record for women. Demus is the US record for the 400m overpass. She is a former student of Long Beach Wilson High School, where she raced and until 2017 held the high school national record for 300 hurdles. She raced in the 4x400 relay team that set a national record in 1998, was second fastest in history in 1999, then broke her own in 2001. She also competed at 100 m hurdle, win at CIF California State Meet in 2001, in the 4x100 relay team, champion in 2001, as well as many content sprint teams. In 1999 and again in 2001, she was voted "Female High School Athlete of the Year" nationally by Track and Field News.
