She began singing on WEAS-AM radio in Savannah, GA, where her father, Norman H. "Lefty" Lindsey, is chief executive and online character. In 1973, she became the patron of Buck Owens and began recording for Capitol Records, then in 1977-1978 she joined Mercury Records.
