Leon Spinks was an American professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 1995. It was not until his eighth professional match that he won the undisputed heavyweight championship in 1978. After defeating Muhammad Ali in a decisive match, the match was considered one of the biggest upheavals in boxing history. . . Spinks was later stripped of his WBC title for facing Ali in an unapproved rematch seven months later, a game he lost by unanimous decision. Along with being a heavyweight champion and his signature smile, Spinks became famous for the disaster that happened to his career after losing to Ali. However, he challenged again for the WBC heavyweight belt in 1981 and the WBA heavyweight title in 1986. As an amateur, Spinks has won many medals in the light weight category.
