Mark Ma
Ma Ying-jeou is a Hong Kong-born Taiwanese politician who served as the sixth president of the ROC from 2008 to 2016. His previous political roles included Attorney General and Mayor of Taipei. He was also president of the KMT during the period 2005–2007 and 2009–2014. Ma was first elected president with 58.45% of the popular vote in the 2008 presidential election, and was re-elected in 2012 with 51.6% of the vote. He was sworn in as president on May 20, 2008 and sworn in as president of the KMT on October 17, 2009; he resigned from his post as chairman of the KMT on December 3, 2014. Ma's presidency saw warmer relations with mainland China. He became the first ROC head of state to meet with the secretary general of the Communist Party when he met Xi Jinping in Singapore in November 2015
