Markus Sten Näslund is a former professional Swedish hockey player and former general manager of Modo Hockey of the Swedish Hockey League. He has played in the National Hockey League for Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers, as well as in Elitserien with Modo Hockey. Nicknamed "Nazzy" by fans of Canucks and "Macke" or "Mackan" in his native Sweden, he is known for his attacking skills, especially wrist kicking and club handling. After playing junior hockey with the Modo organization, Näslund turned professional with the club's Elitserien team in 1990–91. Selected to the first round, 16th overall by Penguins in the 1991 NHL Championship, he joined the NHL in the years 1993-94. After his tenure with Pittsburgh, Näslund was exchanged for Vancouver Canucks in 1996, where he had 12 years, including his 8th team record as captain.
