Martha Elenor Maguire is an American musician who is a founding member of the girl's country group The Chicks and the country duo Court Yard Hounds. She won awards at the National Violin Championships when she was still a teenager. Erwin perfected a number of other instruments, including the mandolin, viola, double bass, and guitar. She wrote and co-wrote several of the band's songs, some of which went on to become blockbuster hits. She also brings mixing and accompaniment skills, as well as orchestral choreography for the group. Erwin learned some musical instruments as a child, honing his skills with his sister, Emily Strayer and two classmates for over five years as part of the bluegrass quartet in touring high school.
