Max De Pree is an American businessman and writer. A son of D. J. De Pree, the founder of the office furniture company Herman Miller, he and his brother Hugh De Pree took over the leadership roles of the company in the early 1960s, and Hugh became CEO and chairman in 1962. Max a success. Hugh's brother became CEO in 1980 and served in that capacity. until 1987, and he served on the company's board of directors until 1995. His book Leadership is an Art has sold over 800,000 copies. In 1992, De Pree was honored at the American Business Fame Hall of Fame for Junior Achievement. He has been involved in the Max De Pree Leadership Center at Fuller Seminary since its inception. He passed away at his home in the Netherlands, Michigan in 2017 .
