William Obea Moore is a former American sprinter. Outstanding excellence in the 400-meters, Moore served as the world's best young rider at the event for nearly 24 years. He was expected to become the next great American player, after Michael Johnson in the Olympic championship, but never lived up to expectations. Starting at the age of eight, playing for the Los Angeles Jets youth club under James Robertson, Moore went on to set American youth records in Bantam, Midget, Youth and Intermediate - some of whom are still standing - add a 200-meter record in the Intermediate and be part of the Youth League 4 × 400-meter relay team. Moore ran for John Muir High School in Pasadena, Calif., Though his mother arranged for him to continue running under Robinson. In its first year, his team won the CIF California State Meet 4x400 relay.
