Olaf Kolzig
Olaf Kölzig, known as Elie the Guardian or Godzilla, is a former German South African professional ice hockey goalie and currently table chase coach and player development coach for the Washington Capitals. With the exception of eight games against the Tampa Bay Lightning, he played his entire 14-year NHL career with the Capitals. Kölzig was born in South Africa to German parents, but grew up in several cities across Canada. His family moved to Union Bay, British Columbia, when he was a teenager. Kölzig never applied for Canadian citizenship, which allowed him to represent Germany on the international stage. Kölzig is in the top 30 of the NHL for the number of saves, the number of wins, the number of matches and the minutes played in his career.
