Randolph Denard Ornette Coleman is an American jazz saxophonist, violinist, trumpeter and composer known to be the main founder of the free jazz genre, a term derived from the album Free Jazz: A Collective Random in his 1960's. His avant-garde performances often abandon structures based on bebop tuning and tuning, instead emphasizing the jarring and jarring approach to improvisation and avant-garde. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Coleman began his music career playing in local R&B and bebop bands, and eventually formed his own band in Los Angeles with members like Ed Blackwell, Don Cherry, Charlie Haden and Billy. Higgins. In 1959, he released the controversial album The Shape of Jazz to Come and began his permanent residence at the Five Spot jazz club in New York. His 1960 album Free Jazz will deeply influence the jazz trend this decade. Beginning in the mid-1970s, Coleman formed Prime Time and explored his funk and concept of harmonic music.
