Pamela Lyndon Travers is an English Australian writer of Australian descent who has spent most of her career in the UK. She is best known for her series of children's books Mary Poppins, including the participation of the magical nanny Mary Poppins. Goff was born in Maryborough, Queensland, and grew up in the Australian bush before being sent to boarding school in Sydney. Her post was first published when she was a teenager, and she also briefly worked as a professional Shakespearean actress. When she immigrated to England at the age of 25, she took the name "Pamela Lyndon Travers" and took the pseudonym "P. L. Travers ”in 1933 when he wrote the first of Mary Poppins' eight books. Travers went to New York during World War II while working for the British Department of Information. At the time, Walt Disney contacted her to sell the copyright to Mary Poppins to Walt Disney Productions.
