Rex White is a retired racing driver and NASCAR champion. White was one of the racers who competed for the original Chevrolet racing team. He started racing in 1956, having finished fourteen times in the top 10. After racing part-time in 1957, White won twice in 1958. His most significant year was in 1960, when he won six races and the NASCAR Grand National Series Championship. When he retired in 1964, he scored 28 career victories. For most of White's NASCAR career, he drove General Motors brand cars, usually painted yellow and white, with the number "4" on the side. Following his retirement, White was inducted into the National Sports Press Association Hall of Fame in 1974 and was named one of NASCAR's Top 50 Racers in 1998
