Richard Edward Cavazos is a four-star general in the United States Army. He received the Title of Outstanding Service in the Korean War as a lieutenant and was promoted to become the first Hispanic four-star general in the United States Army. During the Vietnam War, as a lieutenant colonel, Cavazos was awarded the Second Medal of Excellence. In 1976, Cavazos became the first Mexican-American to reach the rank of Brigadier General in the United States Army. Cavazos served for thirty-three years, with the last command post at the head of the command of the forces of the United States Army.
