Richard Prince is an American painter and photographer. In the mid-1970s, Prince made the drawings and collages which he refused. His image, Untitled, a snapshot of Sam Abell and taken from a tobacco commercial, was the first photographic capture to sell for over $ 1 million at auction at Christie's New York in 2005. He is considered "one of the most revered artists of his generation" according to the New York Times. Beginning in 1977, Prince took four photos that had previously appeared in the New York Times. This reprint continued in 1983, when his Spiritual America featured Garry Gross's Brooke Shields at age 10, standing in a bathtub, as an allusion to early sexuality and the Alfred Stieglitz photograph of the same name. Her Jokes series deals with the sexual fantasies and sexual frustrations of middle-class white Americans, using independent comedy and tongue-in-cheek humor.
