Robert Neyland
Robert Reese Neyland, MBE, is an American football player, trainer, and officer in the United States Army, classified Lieutenant General. He served three terms as the head football coach at the University of Tennessee from 1926 to 1934, 1936 to 1940, and 1946-1952. school, with Frank Leahy from the University of Notre Dame. Neyland holds the record for most wins in Tennessee Volunteer history with 173 wins in 216 games, six seasons unbeaten, nine regular seasons unbeaten, seven convention championships and four national championships. At UT, he won streak 33, 28, 23, 19 and 14 unbeaten. Neyland is often regarded as one of the best, if not the best, defensive football coach of all time.
