Ronald Arbuthnott Knox is an English Catholic priest, theologian, author and broadcaster. Educated at Eton and Balliol Universities in Oxford, where he is known as a classic, Knox was ordained a priest in the Church of England in 1912. He was a colleague and chaplain at Trinity College, Oxford until he resigned after his conversion to Roman Catholicism in 1917. Knox became a Catholic priest in 1918, pursuing his academic and literary career. Knox was a Catholic chaplain at Oxford University from 1926 to 1939. He completed "The Knox Bible", the new English translation of the Vulgate Bible in Latin, which was one of the native Bibles approved for use in Catholic services during the 1960s and 1970s. He has published many other books, including essays on religion, philosophical and literary topics, as well as a number of famous detective novels.
