Sandis Ozolinsh
Sandis Ozoliņš, commonly spelled Sandis Ozolinsh in North America, is a former Latvian professional ice hockey player and coach. During his career in North America, Ozoliņš has won the NHL All-Star seven times, won the Stanley Cup and reached the Norris Trophy final. He's also the all-time leader in goals, assists, points and matches played by the Latvian people in the NHL and holds multiple franchise records for the Colorado Avalanche and the San Jose Sharks. Ozoliņš was also the highest-paid athlete in Latvian history, before NBA basketball player Andris Biedriņš succeeded him in 2008. He became Dinamo's head coach in 2017. Ozoliņš was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 1991 NHL Draft as the 8th pick in the 2nd round, 30th overall. He has played for the Sharks, Colorado Avalanche, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Mighty Ducks and New York Rangers. He is often referred to as an archetypal "attacking defender", heavily involved in his team's attacking and scoring opportunities.
