Shane Lister Summers is an English racer, born in Rossett, Denbighshire, Wales. Although he has raced Formula 1, he has never competed in a world championship event. He is the son of conservative politician Spencer Summers. In 1960, Summers had a successful season with the Lotus 15 sports car prepared by Terry Bartram, and for the next season he and Bartram decided to enter Formula 1 with a new Cooper T53, frame number. F1-8-61. In the season opener, the Lombank Cup was not the champion, Summers, 24, passed the 10th qualifying round of the 14 who finished second and 8th and last. The following week he was eliminated from the Glover Trophy after once again passing the tenth qualification. Going to Europe for the next two races, he was refused the start of the Brussels Grand Prix in 1961, despite finishing 12th in qualifying, but starting from the top of the Vienna Grand Prix. From second on the net, he ran close to the front until his suspension failed.
