Stuart Alan Gordon is an American filmmaker, theater director, screenwriter and playwright. Originally recognized for his provocative and often controversial work in the experimental theater, Gordon is perhaps best known for his cinematic work. Much of Gordon's film work is in horror, though he also ventured into science fiction and noir. Born in Chicago, Gordon was first famous for his experimental and sometimes controversial theater at the University of Wisconsin in the late 1960s. Returning to Chicago, he founded and directed the Organic Theater Company. In the early 1980s, Gordon moved to California to pursue filmmaking work. Like his friend and fellow filmmaker Brian Yuzna, Gordon is a fan of HP Lovecraft and has adapted several of the author's stories to the screen, including Re-Animator, From Beyond, and Dagon, as well. like the Master of horror dreams in witchcraft. -Tent.
