Susan Keating Glaspell is an American playwright, novelist, journalist, and actress. Together with her husband, George Cram Cook, she founded Provincetown Players, America's first modern theater company. First known for his short stories, Glaspell is also known for writing nine novels, fifteen plays and one biography. Usually set in his hometown Midwest, these semi-autobiographical stories often explore contemporary social issues, such as gender, morality, and dissent, and feature personalities. insightful and empathetic objects who have views of principles. Alison's 1930s house won her the Pulitzer Prize for theater. After the death of her husband in Greece, she returned to the United States with their children. During the Great Depression, Glaspell worked in Chicago for the Construction Progress Management Authority, where she served as director of the Midwestern office of the Federal Theater Project. Despite being a best-selling author of his time, after his death Glaspell received less attention and his book was out of print.
