Thomas Telford FRS, FRSE is a Scottish civil engineer, architect and builder and builder of roads, bridges and canals. After becoming an engineer on road and canal projects in Shropshire, he designed numerous infrastructure projects in his native Scotland, as well as ports and tunnels.
