Timothy Franz Geithner is a former US central banker who served as the 75th US Secretary of the Treasury under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2013. He was chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2003 to 2009, having served in the Clinton administration. Since March 2014, he has been the President and CEO of Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm based in New York. As President of the New York Fed and Treasury Secretary, Geithner played a key role in the government's effort to recover from the 2007-08 financial crisis and the Great Depression.
