Theodore Roosevelt Mason Howard is an American civil rights leader, brotherhood leader, entrepreneur, and surgeon. He is one of the mentors of activists such as Medgar Evers, Charles Evers, Fannie Lou Hamer, Amzie Moore, Aaron Henry and Jesse Jackson; created Mississippi's leading civil rights organization in the 1950s, the Regional Black Leadership Council; and played a key role in the investigation into the kidnapping and murder of Emmett Till in the late 1950s. He is also president of the National Medical Association, chairman of the board of directors of the National Negro Business League and is the leading national advocate for Africa American Business.
