Walker Evans is an American photographer and photojournalist best known for his work for the Farm Security Administration documenting the effects of the Great Depression. Much of Evans's work from the FSA era uses an 8 × 10 inch large format camera. He said his goal as a photographer is to create images "literary, authoritative, transcendent". Many of his works are part of permanent museum collections and have been the subject of searches at institutes such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the George Eastman Museum.
