William Edward Burghardt Du Bois is an American sociologist, socialist, historian, civil rights activist, Pan-Africanist, author, writer and publisher. Born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Du Bois grew up in a relatively tolerant and inclusive community, and after completing postgraduate courses at Berlin and Harvard Universities, where he was the first African-American to earn a doctorate, he became a history teacher. , sociology and economics at the University of Atlanta.
