Will Sheff is the head of independent group Okkervil River based in Austin, Texas. A native of Meriden, New Hampshire, he is also a founding member and co-musician of Shearwater, another group from Austin. Sheff wrote and performed numerous songs as a solo artist while fulfilling his commitments to Okkervil River and Shearwater, but only released one single as a solo artist. In addition to writing and singing, he also plays the guitar, piano, banjo and harmonica. Sheff attended the Kimball Alliance Academy, where his creativity was nurtured by a teacher named Simon Harrold, and is studying English at Macalester University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Sheff collaborated with The Mendoza Line on the duet "Aspect of an Old Maid" and played the piano on the Palaxy Tracks Cedarland album. With Okkervil River, he produced Roky Erickson's 2010 album, True Love Cast Out All Evil, and supported music.
