She was first noticed in 2012, when the 18-year-old finished runner-up for women in the ninth season of So You Think You Can Dance. Carson continued his professional dancing career in early 2013 as a stage troupe dancer in seasons 16 and 17 of Dancing with the Stars. She was promoted to professional partner in season 18. In season 19, she and her teammate Alfonso Ribeiro were announced the winners on November 25, 2014, making her one of six professional dancers. During this season, she received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Choreographer. In 2019, she reunited with Ribeiro to co-host the Catch 21 reboot.
