Stanley Holroyd "Stan" Chambers is an American television reporter working for KTLA in Los Angeles from 1947 to 2010. Chambers was born in Los Angeles. Its career began shortly after KTLA became the first commercially licensed television station in the western United States. Her 27-and-a-half-hour report from April 1949 about her failed attempt to save Kathy Fiscus from an abandoned well in San Marino, California, which led to the sale of hundreds of televisions in the Los Angeles area. His report is recognized as the first direct coverage of a hot news story. In 1952, Chambers participated in the first live television broadcast of the atomic bomb test at the Nevada test site. Other stories he recounts include the 1961 Bel Air fire, the 1963 damaging of the Baldwin Hills reservoir, the Sylmar earthquake in 1971 and the Northridge in 1994, the kidnapping of Frank Sinatra Jr in 1963, the Riot Watts in 1965, the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, the murder of Tate-LaBianca by the Manson family and the Hillside Strangler.
