Gethin Davies foi um ministro batista galês e diretor de faculdade. Ele nasceu em Aberdulais; seus pais eram Joseph e Catherine Davies, de Glamorganshire. Gethin frequentou a escola britânica Havod e serviu como aprendiz de aluno-professor por cinco anos. Em 1864 mudou-se para estudar na Graig House Academy, Swansea, e de lá, em 1866, para o Bristol Baptist College. Em 1872 ele foi nomeado para o cargo de Tutor Clássico no Llangollen Baptist College, e daí se dedicou à tarefa de ajudar as igrejas mais fracas e fortalecer a posição da denominação Batista no Norte de Gales.
