Les Shannon
Leslie Shannon is an English football player and coach. As a forward, he scored 40 goals in 274 Football League appearances, playing for Liverpool from November 1944 to November 1949, then for Burnley from November 1949 to August 1958 following the incident. He also won three England caps for the B team. He coached at Everton and Arsenal, before starting an 18-year managerial career in England, Greece and Norway. He is considered by Greek fans and media alike as one of the most talented foreign coaches to ever work in Greek football. His first managerial role was in Bury from 1966 to 1969; he relegated "Shakers" from the Third Division in 1967–68, although they were relegated twice. He came to power in Blackpool, leading the “Tangerines” promotion of the Second Division in the period 1969–70. He spent the 1970s in Greece and found much of his success with PAOK, taking the club to two Greek Cup titles.
