She won the 50-yard hurdles event at the 1954 National Indoor Championship and was also declared the winner of the US National Championships pentathlon event in both 1955 and 1956. The last major event in which she competed was the 1959 Pan American Games.

This inspired her to, following her professional athletic career, become a physical education teacher at St. Benedict High School, a position she held for 43 years.
