Angelina Emily Grimké Weld is an American abolitionist, political activist, women's rights advocate and supporter of the women's electoral movement. She and her sister Sarah Moore Grimké were the only white women in the South to become abolitionists. The sisters lived together as adults, while Angelina was the wife of abolition leader Theodore Dwight Weld. Although they grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, Angelina and Sarah have spent their entire adult lives in the North. Angelina's greatest popularity came in mid-1835, when William Lloyd Garrison published a letter to her in the anti-slavery newspaper The Liberator, and in May 1838, when she delivered a speech to her supporters.
