Benjamin Tallmadge is an American military officer, announcer and politician. He was known as an officer in the Continental Army during the American War of Independence. He acted as the leader of the Culper Ring during the war, a famous spy ring in New York, where large British forces were stationed. He also led a successful raid on Long Island which resulted in the Battle of Fort St. George. After the war, Tallmadge was elected to the US House of Representatives as a member of the Federal Party.
