James A. Myers is an American football coach. He coached for 40 years at the undergraduate and professional level. He is perhaps best known for his time as the Dallas Cowboys head coach and affiliate head coach under Tom Landry. He was also an off-season member of the Card-Pitt team in 1944, playing the role of protector. Card-Pitt was the shrinking of the Cardinals and Steelers teams during World War II and is often considered one of the worst teams in history, ending with a score of 0-10 and over 220 points. After serving as the Red Sanders' downline head coach at Vanderbilt University and then the University of California Los Angeles, Myers became head coach at Iowa State in 1957, where he established 4– 5–1. Then he succeeded Bear Bryant with a similar place at Texas A&M University in 1958
