Lanny McDonald
Lanny King McDonald is a former Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Rockies and Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League. He has played over 1,100 games in his 16-year career, scoring 500 goals and over 1,000 points. His total of 66 goals in the 1982-83 season remained the Flames' franchise record for one season. McDonald was selected by Maple Leafs as the fourth overall choice in the 1973 NHL Entry Draft and established himself as an attacking striker with three consecutive seasons scoring 40 goals in Toronto in the mid-1970s. His deal with the Rockies in 1979 prompted Toronto supporters to object to the deal outside of Maple Leaf Gardens. He played three seasons in Denver before being sent to Calgary in 1981, where he spent the rest of his career. He co-led Flames to the Stanley Cup championship in his final season from 1988-1989.
