Michael Dodd is a retired American professional beach volleyball player who attended San Diego State University. Along with teammate Mike Whitmarsh, he won a silver medal in the first men's beach volleyball tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Since winning a silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics , he worked. For the 2000 Olympics as a Beach Analyst and 2004 as an Internal Analyst for NBC. In 2008, Dodd coached AVP stars Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal at the Beijing Olympics. Dodd was also the captain of the US team which won the best of Brazil in the AVP World Challenge which opened in 2009. Born and raised in Manhattan Beach, California, and a former student of Mira Costa High School, Dodd won five titles at the Manhattan Beach Open. In 2009, he became the first person to coach the male and female champions of the same Manhattan Beach Open. Dodd was named the AVP Player of the Year in 1994 and 1996 and the AVP Most Inspirational Player of the Year three times in a row from 1995 to 1997
