Paul William Westhead is an American basketball coach, the most recent being the head coach of the University of Oregon women's team. In his first year as head coach of the NBA, he led rookies Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA title in 1980. He was the head coach of three National Basketball teams. Association and is an assistant to four other teams, and has also coached the National College Athletes Association, the Women's National Basketball Association, the American Basketball Association and the Japan Basketball Federation. He has won both NBA and WNBA titles, and is remembered as the coach of the Loyola Marymount University men's basketball team during the school's most glorious days. Westhead is known for an unorthodox run and shot style, known as the "System". He studied at Saint Joseph University.
