Gethin Davies từng là mục sư Baptist xứ Wales và là hiệu trưởng trường đại học. Anh sinh ra ở Aberdulais; cha mẹ của ông là Joseph và Catherine Davies ở Glamorganshire. Gethin theo học tại trường Anh Quốc Havod, và học nghề giáo viên-học sinh kéo dài 5 năm ở đó.
